About AMW & Co

Anticipating risk, resolving complexity, and helping clients proceed with confidence.

AMW & Co is a Zambian law firm founded in 1996 by retired Judge Albert Mark Wood. Formerly A.M.Wood & Co. Incorporating Abha Patel & Associates, the firm now advises clients from Lusaka, Kitwe, and Ndola across transactions, disputes, compliance, and project execution. Our working philosophy is simple: Anticipate. Resolve. Succeed.

Who we serve

We work with banks, financial institutions, corporates, investors, developers, contractors, project sponsors, executives, public-facing organisations, and international clients operating in Zambia and across regional markets.

How we work

Our approach is commercially informed and legally disciplined. We focus on risk anticipation, efficient resolution, confidentiality, and advice that translates clearly to boards, project teams, in-house counsel, and decision-makers.

What clients rely on us for

Clients turn to AMW & Co for corporate and commercial work, banking and finance, employment, property, construction, tax, private equity, mining and energy, environmental and agricultural law, immigration, criminal-risk matters, PPPs, SPVs, and dispute resolution.

The firm's leadership and broader legal team reflect strong depth in arbitration, mergers and acquisitions, project finance, ESG-linked advisory, regulatory compliance, construction law, investor readiness, and high-stakes strategic matters.

Footprint

The Lusaka office supports clients operating in the commercial and administrative centre of Zambia. The Kitwe and Ndola offices strengthen the Copperbelt presence, especially where mining, infrastructure, energy, logistics, and industrial operations intersect with commercial law.

This three-office structure gives clients responsive access to counsel while keeping execution aligned across jurisdictions, regulators, counterparties, and transaction stakeholders.
